About me
I began working in libraries during undergrad at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. I had acquired a work-study job at the Gorgas Library, which prompted me to reevaluate my former career choice and pursue a career in librarianship once I graduated from UA.
After graduation, I got lucky and procured a job at the Birmingham Public Library in downtown Birmingham, AL. I was star-struck the first time I went to the library because I had lived in a small town where the library consisted of two shelves that were mostly just donations from the public who worked at the local city hall. I was in awe of the number of books on each floor and that it was a four-story building that was responsible for just housing books. I began my career in circulation in 2000, then moved to Fiction Department, then to the Youth Department, and then to my current position, copy cataloger in the Catalog Department. I have enjoyed each of my posts and the experience that comes with them, which has allowed me to become a better well-rounded public librarian. |
